Sign in to the DVSA booking service on GOV.UK, choose your test centre and look at the dates offered. Once you select an appointment and accept the timing warning you have 15 minutes to complete the booking, and you are signed out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Book only at a centre you intend to use — a booked car test can later only be moved to its 3 nearest centres.

Availability is shown in DVSA’s official booking service on GOV.UK: sign in, choose your test centre and look at the dates offered. The service is available from 6am to 11:40pm, 7 days a week. DVSA asks you not to search repeatedly over a short period or to use more than one device at once, or you may see a ‘search limit reached’ message or an Error 15.
DVSA releases a new week of appointments at 6am every Monday, 24 weeks in the future, so newly released dates are always about 24 weeks ahead. Earlier dates only appear when someone cancels or changes their test, or DVSA adds examiner availability, and they can appear at any time.
It is DVSA’s measure of the standard test slots still unbooked within the next 24 weeks, measured on the last Monday of each month. Standard tests are those between 7:30am and 4:40pm on weekdays. A higher share means more slots are still open at that centre; small centres with few weekly slots can show a very high or very low share, so read it together with the median wait.
DVSA releases a new week of appointments every Monday at 6am. How many slots that adds depends on examiner availability at each test centre, so it differs from centre to centre.
No. Choosing your centre and turning on notifications does not ask for your driving licence number. You will need it on the official DVSA service when you book or change your test.
Only to one of the 3 nearest centres to where it is booked (or back to your original centre), and you can change a car test 2 times. See the how to change your driving test before you do.
