๐Ÿ“‹ How changing your driving test works now

DVSA changed the booking rules in 2026. Here's what matters before you try to move your test to an earlier date.

๐ŸŽฏ

Book anywhere โ€” but choose carefully

You can still book your first test at any test centre. But DVSA advises you only book where you actually intend to go, because moving it later is now limited.

๐Ÿ”€
From 9 June 2026

You can only move to your 3 nearest centres

Once your test is booked, you can only change it to one of the 3 centres nearest to where it's booked โ€” or back to your original centre.

๐Ÿ”ข
From 31 Mar 2026

Only 2 changes allowed

You can change an existing booking a maximum of 2 times. Changing the date and centre at the same time counts as a single change.

What this means if you want an earlier date

Because a booked test can now only move to its 3 nearest centres โ€” and only twice โ€” the centre you first book from matters more than ever. If you're chasing an earlier cancellation, start from a centre whose 3 nearest neighbours also have good availability, not one that boxes you in. Use the tools below to see your options before you commit.
